AC Shadows Unveils Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Uncovered
According to the formal statement, "A mysterious encounter leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where whispers of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The storyline introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a secret group.
The adventure centers on "strange trials and a monstrous enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the hostage, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Bonus Content
Players who finish the mission will obtain an special katana alongside several items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This update also adds the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
